Yankees' Gerrit Cole Wins First Cy Young Award

Cole's Impressive 2023 Season Earns him AL Honor

Former UCLA right-hander and current New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole has been named the winner of the American League Cy Young Award. Cole had come close a few times but finally won his first Cy Young Award on Wednesday. Cole threw a complete game in Toronto to finish with a 15-4 record and a 2.63 ERA. He also struck out 257 batters in 202.1 innings pitched.

Cole's victory is the first for a Yankees pitcher since David Cone in 1994. He is also the first Yankees pitcher to win the AL Cy Young Award since Whitey Ford in 1961.

Cole's performance this season was nothing short of dominant. He led the AL in strikeouts and innings pitched, and his 2.63 ERA was the second-best in the league. He also had a WHIP of 0.88, which was third-best in the AL.

Cole's success this season is a testament to his hard work and dedication. He is a true ace, and he is one of the best pitchers in baseball.
