England set to face Switzerland for third time at major tournament
England will face Switzerland in the quarter-finals of the European Championship on Sunday, July 3, 2024. The match will be played at Wembley Stadium, London, and will kick off at 7pm BST.
This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides at a major tournament, and the third at the European Championship. England won the previous two meetings, 1-0 in 1996 and 2-0 in 2004.
Switzerland have never beaten England at a major tournament, but they will be confident of causing an upset this time around. The Swiss have a strong team, led by Granit Xhaka, Xherdan Shaqiri and Yann Sommer, and they will be looking to make a statement in front of their home crowd.
England will be without suspended midfielder Declan Rice, but they have a number of other players who can step up and fill his place. Gareth Southgate's side are in good form, having won their last two matches without conceding a goal, and they will be confident of reaching the semi-finals.
